Debit CardA healthcare payment card issued to covered persons of a qualified plan. The card can be presented to medical or pharmacy providers to transfer funds from the applicable account for payment of healthcare services. In order for such accounts to properly qualify for tax-advantaged treatment, the administration of the debit card payments must meet IRS provisions.
DeductibleThe amount of money that a covered person and his/her dependents would have to pay out-of-pocket annually for expenses before the insurance company covers the remaining costs, in full or in part.
DependentAn individual who depends on another as a primary source of income and/or health benefits from a parent, grandparent and/or guardian.
Dependent Care FSAA spending account that is offered through an employer’s benefit plan that allows employees to set aside pre-tax money on an annual basis to pay for qualified day care expenses incurred during that year.
DisbursementThe withdrawal of funds from a health spending account to pay for qualified medical expenses.
